Inline Turntable

High volume production of small parts requires quick and reliable handling of parts during their final inspection. One of the options is to get the parts onto a turn table and make the measurement in several steps. Individual positions may need additional handling, like rotation of parts around their axis.

Conveyor Belt

Inspection of small flat parts like bearing components, where the orientation of the parts can be easily achieved, is best done on a running conveyor belt. The movement of the parts provides easy scanning ability so the imaging of the part’s surface can be done in high resolutions and uniform lighting conditions.

Robot with static fixture

The simplest measurement and inspection technology is a static fixture. Parts are loaded by a robot (or manually) into a defined position. All inspection component are typically mounted in fixed positions and make individual measurements. It is cheap and easy to integrate, but it lacks the flexibility of other concepts and is limited by potential collisions during loading/unloading. The measurement is very quick, but the manipulation can increase the overall cycle time.

Robot with Shuttle system

Shuttle systems in general allow us to combine scanning and static measurements in single equipment. Part are loaded into a fixture installed on a moving shuttle. Parts are precisely clamped during the whole measurement and manipulation. Price/performance ratio is very good especially if multiple measurements are integrated into one system. The cycle time is medium to high due to the missing pipe lining. Only one parts is being inspected and loading/unloading has to be included in the cycle as well.

Inline shuttle system

Inline shuttle system is extension of Robot shuttle system with additional unloading position at the end of the machine. The loading and unloading operations can be done either by 2 separate robots, or by portal grippers and conveyors. This increases the capacity by pipelining the handling operations and provides direct integration with conveyor transportation systems. Rejection of NOK parts can be done after unloading of the parts from a shuttle automatically.

Inline conveyor system

Conveyor systems provide maximum flexibility for future scaling of the inspection systems. They are built from “blocks” interconnected by conveyor interfaces. Each station provides separate static inspection capabilities and it is very easy to add additional stations in case of future needs and additional product running through the same production line but requiring different fixtures and inspection configurations. The cycle time is not influence by the number of stations as each contains one part and the process is fully pipelined.

Inline transfer gantry

When the fastest cycle time is required, the internal handling is the only thing were optimization can be done without compromising of the inspection capabilities. Transfer gantry reduces the station-to-station handling to minimum and gives all available time to measurement. The system consist of several static and potentially one scanning station. Grippers transfer part from one fixture to the next in a synchronized fashion. For cylinder head inspection, as short as 14s cycle time can be achieved with different combinations of our inspection technologies in several stations.
